Trailer Driver - Logistics

The Best Dressed Chicken division of Jamaica Broilers Group Limited is currently seeking an experienced and dependable Trailler Driver to undertake the responsibility of safely transporting cargo from port terminals to specified destinations, as well as moving trailers and containers at our Processing Plant in Spring Village, St. Catherine, or other designated locations as needed.

As such, the ideal candidate must meet the following criteria:

• Expertise in the safe and efficient loading and unloading of trailers, containers and cargo, while adhering to established procedures and guidelines.
• Competence in the safe operation of shunt trucks or trailers to efficiently transport various cargo types within designated areas, such as distribution centres, warehouses or industrial facilities.
• Proficiency in organizing and managing the flow of trucks and trailers at a live dock or storage area, including tasks related to truck/trailer parking and positioning.
• Experience in coordinating the release and transportation of shipping containers and other cargo safely and proficiently from the port terminal premises to designated destinations.
• Strong time management skills, including meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing work environment, quickly adapting to new situations and priorities.
• Effective team player with the ability to collaborate seamlessly with colleagues to troubleshoot issues and enhance operational effectiveness.
• Basic technical aptitude for equipment inspections and maintenance.
• Defensive Driving training or relevant experience would be an asset.
• Flexibility to work on a rotating shift schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Willing to work on contract, with the potential for renewal based on job performance.
• A valid Articulated driver’s licence with appropriate endorsements.
• At least a High School diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a similar capacity.
