VACANCY

Jamaica Broilers Group Limited (Best Dressed Chicken Division) is seeking highly skilled Mechanical Technicians to join our team at our feed production facility, located in Free Town, St. Catherine. The successful candidates will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our machinery. Key responsibilities of the position include:

 

  • Conduct regular inspections of all mechanical equipment, including conveyors, mixers, grinders, and packaging machines, to identify potential faults or wear and tear.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance tasks such as lubrication, cleaning, and adjustments to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, such as bearing failures, gear misalignment, and hydraulic system problems, and implement effective repair solutions.
  • Interpret and utilize electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • Conduct major overhauls of equipment as required, including disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and reassembly.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.
  • Work closely with other team members, including operators, electricians, and engineers, to ensure efficient and coordinated operations.

 

As such, the ideals candidates should meet the following criteria:

 

Qualifications:

  • At least a Level 3 certification in Mechanical Engineering/Maintenance from a recognized tertiary institution or equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in equipment maintenance, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, machinery, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proactive approach to maintenance challenges with a strong attention to detail.
  • Adaptable to working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

 

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to work on a contractual basis.
  • Flexibility to work a rotating shift schedule, including weekends and public holidays (if required).
